History: It begins in 1990 ...

Located in the very heart of the tourist office, on two floors, the Museum of Bastide Monflanquin was designed as a necessary expression of a reality too long ignored the Southwest: the Bastide.

It is the last part of the program presented at the regional competition "Bastide Stations" Monflanquin which was awarded in 1990.

This project is part of a comprehensive policy for the development of our Bastide, combining heritage and modernity, cultural projects and economic development, tourism and quality of life.

This achievement highlights the position of the tourism Monflanquin axis Périgord / Agen and marks the continued commitment of exchanges between the Dordogne and Lot-et-Garonne.
The Museum of Country house invites you to discover the Southwest through its medieval history, a time of profound social, political and urban villages which have kept our footprint.

At the Museum: media to understand the Bastide ...

The Museum aims to give everyone the means to understand the historical conditions in which these "new towns" in the Middle - Age was born.

Signs in French and English, models, audio and visual aids, children's media, contemporary scultpures are elements to allow everyone to understand the rational planning of these cities and their role in medieval society of the time.

The Museum will not fully fulfilled its mission if it makes you want to discover other Bastide leaving Monflanquin.
